Womens Self Defense and Help Center
Self defense refers to actions taken by a person to defend
oneself, one's property or one's home. We practice self defense when we
know how to talk our way out of trouble, how to react to trouble and how
to physically overcome when in trouble. Self defense is also about how
we feel about ourselves because that self image shows itself to other
people. If you feel or act confident and assured about yourself either
physically or knowledgewise, people see it and will not try to take advantage.
If you act like you are not sure about yourself, it shows.
Think about the time you were at a sorority party or at a bar, or whatever
function when some guy comes up to you and puts his arm around your shoulders
and you didn't like it?
What did you do? Imagine looking the guy in the eye, stand up straight,
and saying in a clear, FIRM tone: "Get your hands off me." You
don't have to be belligerent, angry or homicidal----you just have to be
certain.
80% of the guys out there will immediately take their hands off you (Though
some may take a second, while they process the information. :).
However what if that did not deter the guy and he kept on coming?
What if he is the 20% of those people who just wo'nt quit. Well read about
our other defensive techniques using the links above. In such case, this
is where you'll need to upgrade to the other knowledge areas and make
an educated decision on whether to go phyiscal, run away, call for help,
use a defensive (non lethal) weapon etc. This is all done by knowing what
needs to be done. What is plan B if plan A fails. remember you are always
looking to use just enough self defense knowledge to get out of the situation.
So now we know that knowledge is The Ultimate Weapon. It is one
you can always have it with you, properly concealed. It is a weapon that
is legal in all 50 states and you'll never be stopped at the airport x-ray
machine with it. It is the ultimate tool that you'll need to protect yourself
and your family.
Remember that knowledge has many subdivisions or areas. We have carefully
classified them as three main categories:
1. Physical self defense knowledge area
a.Weapons knowledge
b.Martial Arts
2.Verbal self defense knowledge area
a.De-escalation of a verbal fight
3. Environmental Security knowledge area
a.maintaining a physical environment that will deter would be intruders
There may be other knowledge areas, but esentially we believe most of
them will fall within these three categories.
