Whenever you are working at an outdoor crime scene, it can be very easy for the general public to watch what you are doing. For example, if the scene involves a dead body by the side of the road, you might have "rubber neckers" driving by, seeing unnecessary items and perhaps driving dangerously.
Also, you need to be sensitive about anyone from the media coming along and photographing the body from a distance to be published in the newspaper the next day or to be instantly broadcast on a television news program. This can be very horrifying to the victim's family and may allow the suspect to see what you have found and what you are doing at the scene. Preventing the public from seeing the scene may also help eliminate "false leads" from people seeking attention by claiming responsibility for the crime. They would be able to tell you what was at the scene because they saw it on television.
We have produced the Scene Screen to help give you the security you need at public crime scenes. Use the Scene Screen™ to shield the evidence, body or other areas of the crime scene from the view of uninvolved people. Each segment of a Scene Screen™ is 40" high, 6' long, weighs 19 pounds and is made of thick, black canvas material.
Construct the Scene Screen™ or a series of Scene Screens within minutes. The frame is made of thick, plastic tubes which are lightweight but sturdy enough to withstand its weight and any breeze. Velcro® strips hold the dark material on the frame and metal snaps are used to attach one Scene Screen™ segment to another. The washable material is heavy enough to use at night where bright lights illuminating the evidence will not show the crime scene through the screen.
You can purchase the Scene Screen™ individually or in sets. There may be times when you only need one and there may be times when you need four screens. Consider purchasing screens before you see yourself, your evidence and your crime scene on the local news.
