WHAT IS A STUN GUN ?
On the old "Star Trek" series, Captain Kirk and his crew never left the ship without their trusty phasers. One of the coolest things about these weapons was the "stun" setting. In addition to its physical effect, the stun gun can serve as an effective psychological intimidator. When the stun gun is engaged, and it is not touching the assailant, a charge of electricity is sent crackling between the two test probes just below the shock probes. The sight of this blue arc sparking and the sound of the live electrical current flow enhances the assailant's natural fear of electricity. This alone may cause a possible assailant to seek another course or get away from the storm before the lightning strikes.
