Handi-Lifts

Handi-LiftsTM have two parts connected by a hinge. There is the pre-cut section of tape and the matching size backing card. The two parts are connected like a book so you will always have the right size backing card to match the size of tape.

Handi-LiftsTM are available in three sizes and three colors of backing cards. The sizes are 1 1/2" x 2", 2" x 4" and 4" x 4". The backing cards are white, black or transparent.

Use the different sizes to pick up latent prints of varying sizes. Use the smallest Handi-LiftTM to pick up a single fingerprint. Use the largest Handi-LiftTM to tape and lift a partial palm or three or four fingerprints close together. It is helpful to latent print examiners to view several fingerprints which appear to be from the same hand together on one latent print lifter.

The different colors allow for the use of different colored powders. For example, if you are using white or silver/gray powders to develop latent prints, you should lift them with a black or transparent Handi-LiftTM. If you are using black powder, use a white or transparent Handi-Liftª. Transparent Handi-LiftsTM are especially beneficial if backlighting techniques are used to visualize the latent print with greater contrast. The transparent Handi-LiftTM can also be used as a negative in the darkroom for a contact sheet or photographic enlargement.

	1. Peel and discard the printed plastic sheet from the adhesive film and smooth the film over the latent prints.
	2. Peel the adhesive film from the surface and press it against the plastic backer.
	3. Smooth the adhesive film onto the plastic backer.
