F16DB DuraTec Black Chrome Friction Loc Baton
The ASP Duratec Black Chrome Baton is the same as the Black chrome baton but
instead of a foam vinyl grip it has the Santoprene grip.
Like the Black Chrome the Duratec is made of heat treated 4140 high carbon
steel (the more carbon in steel, the harder it is). The handle is coated with
Zinc and hardcoat anodized Black Chrome finish making the Federal Baton highly
corrosion resistant.
Black Chrome is the state of the art black finish for steel surfaces. It is
not not a paint, it is a a true black plating. As a result, it is extremely
hard and will not scratch. Black Chrome will not rust as do other surface treatments.
It is exceptionally durable and does not flake or peel. Black Chrome offers
deep, rich, black corrosion protection.
SANTOPRENE GRIP
ASP D/F Series grips are injection molded directly onto the handles of ASP
Batons. DuraTec® (aluminum) and Federal® (steel) handles are completely
encased. The unitized appearance and 70 Durometer textured Krayton provides
a cushioned grip that is easily retained in the hand. The batons have the same
feel as the finest custom knife and handgun grips.
Molded Grips are permanently bonded to the handles of ASP Police Batons. They
provide a firm grip that is extremely durable. The grips are attractive and
easily maintained.

4140 Steel
The Steel used in the ASP Duratec Black Chrome Baton is 4140 seamless steel
tubing and is not commercially available in the United States. Because of this,
ASP must have a special chemistry or heat of steel poured in Germany
and then pierced into rounds. This raw stock is then drawn by an American company
into tubing that is made to ASP specifications. ASP is the sole source of 4140
steel tubing for expandable batons. ASP 4140 is 25% stronger than more commonly
available 4130 tubing.
